An excellent reference work on ayurvedic herbal revitalization therapy

The word 'Rasayana' lterally means “the path that rasa takes” (rasa - referring to the primordial tissue - plasma), and ayana - (path). It is considered as the science of the restoration of youth and relief of the suffering and degradation that accompanies aging and bestows longevity. It is believed in ayurveda that the qualities of rasa dhatu influence the health of all the other dhatus of the body; hence, any medicine that enhances the quality of rasa is a a Rasayana. Rasayana tantra, the study and teaching of rejuvenation medicine, has long been a traditionally independent clinical discipline within ayurveda.

Rasayana (rejuvenation or revitalization therapy) one of the historic eight specializations within traditional ayurvedic practice, although this least understood branch of this science, is becoming of ever growing interest.

Until relatively recently, much of the information on India's research into their medicinal plants has remained within India, mainly published within Indian journals. Over the past few decades, however, as interest in the field of ayurveda has expanded globally, and with the integration of herbal. herbomineral and metallic medicines discovered and long used abroad into convention treatments, and along with the strengthening of academic networks internationally, the results of Indian herbal drug research is both becoming available to Western audiences as well as stirring Western inquiries into the properties of these medicines.

Looking at it from Westerrn perspective, a Rasayana medicine is one that may be said to have five properties: viz., its actions as an adaptogen, an immunostimulant, an immunomodulator, a pro-host probiotic and an anti-mutagenic. To which we might add a sixth quality, that of tropism: an attraction toward a particular tissue, organ or organ system.

About the Author

Anthony Banfield trained with the District Valuer's Office and, since qualifying in 1973, has worked in local government, private practice and for a property company. Whilst with the latter, he gained considerable experience of rent reviews as well as the management and refurbishment of a large covered shopping centre before being actively involved in the Chelsea Harbour development. He was Managing Director of a property asset management company specialising in the management of property portfolios throughout the UK for privately owned property companies. He is particularly interested in the development of valuation methods and the further use of electronic media in distance education. He is also a tutor at the College of Estate Management, UK.

Nice addition to any magickal library

Nuctemeron Gates is S. Connolly's pathworking through the Nuctemeron of Apollonius of Tyanna. Connolly uses her method of gate opening detailed in The Infernal Colopatiron as the working system for this ritual. If one owns The Infernal Colopatiron this will definetly be a nice addition to work through. An adept should have little problem working through the Nuctemeron Gates without the addition of Infernal Colopatiron. I have not yet performed this pathworking as I'm still familiarizing myself with Connolly's system of magick (and do not consider myself an adept) but it will surely be one of my priorities when I do.

I have enjoyed reading all of S. Connolly's books so far (haven't read them all but am working on it). Needless to say this one did not disappoint. I really enjoy that she writes in plain English (none of the fluff and nonsense crap in so many "occult" books) and in good detail. I've found this book to be a very useful resource to my practice.

What I like about these chap books is that it's gets straight to the point. You know, or should know what your doing prior to performing these rites. A great insight into the lives of immigrants from Mexico

"... There are a lot of stereotypes and generalizations made about Mexican immigrants coming into the United States - Janitors, Street Vendors, and Activists is an excellent book because it gives a look into what some of their experience is actually like, and of course many of the things people think of are way off mark. I am sure that just like with any group of people, there are some Mexican immigrants who will be lazy or stupid. But those two words also describe a large number of US citizens, so I'm not really sure how "lazy" came to be associated with the immigrants from Mexico. After reading this book, I was even more confused on that point, because the people whose stories were featured work harder than most people I know - certainly they work harder than I do! They struggle to make ends meet (and make do when they cannot make ends meet). They put up with a lot while at work - things that any of us would be going to Human Resources to file a complaint about. Many immigrants were trained professionals in Mexico, but cannot find jobs in their fields in the United States because their credentials aren't recognized - so they take work in lower-wage jobs that we tend to look down on in a way (fast food, janitorial services, street vending, etc.). ..."
