Murder and Mayhem
By Deborah
Who knew murder and mayhem could be so amusing? Having read Treadwell's 'Last Suppers' I thought I knew what to expect but this sequel goes even further. There's more detail about the crimes and the behavior once these guys (and gals) find themselves on death row and just when the grisly details start to be a little too graphic, Treadwell finds some `zinger' of strange, off the wall humor in the situation or the psychopath.
Some of these folks have been described as Satan personified, sick, sick individuals with no respect for humanity, disgusting, vile, monsters, hired killers, robbers, thieves...and an Elvis impersonator. One guy wanted his last words to be a joke so he had friends set up a website called `Dead Man Laughing' where people could submit their jokes. Another prisoner was convicted of brutally killing teenage girls with ice picks, pliers, and sledgehammers, recording it so he could relive the gruesome crime. Ironically when incarcerated he filed a lawsuit for "cruel and unusual punishment' because he claimed he was served broken cookies on his lunch tray.
These are only a few of the interesting characters in 'Death Row's Oddest Inmates', a fascinating book and surprisingly funny. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Death Row's Oddest Inmates, by Ty Treadwell

The author takes a very somber issue like capital punishment and exposes the humorous, the desperate, and sometimes insane view point of the condemned inmates. It's a very easy read and whatever your political views on the subject may be I would recommend this book to anyone. Ty Treadwell has a great literary style.
